UZIMA!’s lead drummer Vincenzo (Vinny) Carrasco will teach the basics of African drumming on both the djembe and dun dun drums. Participants will learn technique, how to listen for and play with polyrhythms, as well as one or two ensemble pieces that the class will perform at the end of the session.
* All participants should have their own djembe, but use of one during the class can be arranged for a limited number of participants. Use of the dun dun drums is included in the class.
*Class is limited to just six students per session!
Session 1 runs from July 6th through August 17 (no class on July 27th).
Ages 13 and up.
